Family problems.

The first stages of a new relationship are super fun and
exciting. But as Irvine matchmakers, we’re here to warn you that it can also be dangerous if you’re not careful. If you see too many of these red flags instead of fireworks, you need to save yourself the heartache and walk away.

Today, our Irvine matchmakers here at Orange County Singles are going to show you telltale dating red flags you can’t ignore.

1. Overly Judgmental

From the gossipers to the guys that talk trash everyone, to the jealous types, and the control freaks, early signs of a judgmental person are huge red flags to keep an eye for in your dating life.

It may begin as something little, such as venting about work, an annoying friend, or criticizing someone you know, but if you keep noticing a repetitive partner of negative behavior, it could mean that your new love interest is overly judgmental. This is not only draining to your relationship but will also spill over into your personal life.

2. Bad Manners

There are few things more off-putting than siting with a guy who has no table manners. Have you ever enjoyed a dinner date with someone who eats with their mouth open? Not likely! Not only is it off-putting, but it’s also rude.

On the other hand, let’s hope you haven’t encountered the angry, entitled type who walks up to the wait stuff and puts them down because their order didn’t come out on time. Other signs that you may be with a bad-mannered guy include constant interruptions during conversations, dirtiness around the house, and major road rage.

3. Selfish Behavior

If you ever feel like your selflessness and generosity isn’t reciprocated by your guy, that is one huge red flag to watch out for – whether it includes small behaviors such as never telling you anything, or more impactful behavior like forgetting your birthday.

What’s the point of attempting to get to know him if he’s only into himself? You’ll be in a give, give, give state of mind for the entirety of your relationship, and that’s not how a relationship works. Relationships require equal efforts and compromise.

4. Having No Filter

Close your eyes and picture this scenario: you’re in a nice restaurant on a first date. The vibe is warm and inviting and the surrounding sounds are the perfect level. Not only does your date speak at a level twice as loud as the music, but he talks about anything and everything under the sun. From the hardships he’s facing at work and his past romantic life to his day-to-day grievances, he shares it all.

This is one of the many examples of a person having no filter. It can be embarrassing for you and cause a lot of awkwardness on your date. Can you imagine the awkward situations you’ll face down the road with this guy? Uh-uh, no thank you!

5. No Follow-through with Plans

If you’re just getting to know someone and they’re already proving to you that they are flaky when it comes to plans, then how can you really count on them to be in a committed relationship? Answer: you can’t.

Alas, flaky people are a red flag in the dating world. No matter how much of a catch he is, you shouldn’t waste your time with him. Nobody likes to get stood up for a date.
